INSTALLATION

  1. Coat the threads of new plugs with an anti-seize compound. Insert the plugs into the engine and tighten them finger-tightly.
  2. Be sure that the plugs are not crossthreaded. If the plugs use metal gaskets, new gaskets should be installed each time the plugs are removed and installed.
  3. Tighten the spark plugs to 9–13 ft. lbs. (Rotary Pick-Up) or 11–15 ft. lbs. (piston engine).
  4. Install the spark plug wires on their respective plugs. Be sure that each wire is firmly connected.
  5. While you are checking the spark plugs, the spark plug wires should also be checked. Any wires that are cracked or brittle should be replaced.
