- Thoroughly warm the engine to normal operating temperature. The water temperature
gauge will tell you when normal operating temperature is reached.
- Make sure that the choke valve is fully open. On 1978 and later models,
run the engine at 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes. Disconnect the canister purge hose
at the canister.
- Connect a tachometer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Adjust the idle speed screw to specifications.
- Disconnect the tachometer. Connect the purge hose on 1978 and later models.
