Battery

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Piston Engine
  1. Disconnect the two battery cables.
  2. Remove the hold-down clamps.
  3. Using a lifting strap, lift the battery from its platform.

    CAUTION
    Don't tilt the battery. It contains sulfuric acid!

  4. While wearing goggles, thoroughly clean the cables and clamps and buff them with a wire brush until clean and shiny.
  5. Using a baking soda and warm water solution, neutralize the acid residue in the battery platform area. Flush the area with clean water.
  6. Install the battery on the platform.
  7. Install the cables and tighten the clamp bolts.
  8. Install the hold-down clamps.
ROTARY ENGINE

The battery is located in a compartment on the right side of the cargo bed, just in front of the rear wheel.

  1. Open the door and hold it open with the rubber snubber provided.
  2. Pull the latch handle (on the outside of the battery box) upward to release the latch.
  3. Swing the outside of the battery box downward and push the top strap upward.
  4. Grab the metal tab at the bottom edge of the battery box and pull it outward, sliding the battery into the open.
  5. Disconnect the two battery cables.
  6. Remove the hold-down clamps.
  7. Using a lifting strap, lift the battery from its platform.
