To remove the intake manifold and carburetor assembly, with the engine remaining
in the automobile, proceed in the following manner:
- Perform Steps 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 13 of Engine Removal and Installation,
above. Do not remove the engine. Do not drain the engine oil; merely remove
the metering oil pump hose from the carburetor.
- Perform Steps 2, 3, and 4 of Engine Disassembly, above.
- Install the intake manifold and carburetor assembly in the reverse order
of removal. Tighten the manifold securing nuts working from the inside out,
and in two or three stages, to the specifications in the Torque Chart. Refill
the cooling system.
