EMISSION CONTROLS — ROTARY ENGINE

Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is located on the intake manifold below the carburetor. In this case, the word ``crankcase'' is not quite correct, as the Mazda rotary engine has no crankcase in the normal sense of the term. Rather, the valve, which is operated by intake manifold vacuum, is used to meter the flow of fuel and air vapors through the rotor housings.
