The B1600 uses four emission control systems:
- Throttle Positioner system
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation system
- Evaporative Emission Control system
- Thermactor Air Injection system.
The B1800 and B2000 employ seven basic systems:
- Thermactor Air Injection system
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system
- Evaporative Emission Control system
- Deceleration Control system
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is used on 1976 California Mazdas with manual
transmission, and all 1977 and later models
- Catalytic Converter, used on some 1976–78 California trucks and most
1979 and later models
- Spark Delay system is used on 1977 and later 1.8 and 2.0 engines
