- Remove the hose from the PCV valve.
- Start the engine and run it at approximately 700–1,000 rpm.
- Cover the end of the PCV valve with a finger. A distinct vacuum should be
felt. If no vacuum is felt, replace the valve.
Remove the valve from its fitting. Shake the valve. If a rattle is heard, the
valve is probably functioning normally. If no rattle is heard, the valve is
probably stuck (open or shut) and should be replaced.
