- Raise and support the truck on jackstands, allowing the rear axle to hang
freely.
- Remove the wheels.
- Support the weight of the axle with a floor jack.
- Disconnect the shock absorbers.
- Remove the axle-to-spring U-bolts.
- Disconnect the brake line hose at the junction block. Plug the line.
- Lower the axle and remove it.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the U-bolt nuts to 58 ft.
lbs. Torque the shock absorber lower bolts to 58 ft. lbs. Bleed the brakes.
