CLUTCH RELEASE LEVER

1972–75 Vehicles

NOTE: This adjustment must be maintained to prevent release bearing and clutch damage.

  1. Raise and support the truck.
  2. Disconnect the release lever return spring at the lever.
  3. Loosen the locknut and rotate the adjusting nut until a clearance of 3.5–4.5mm (0.138–0.177 in.) is obtained between the bullet nosed end of the adjusting nut and the release lever.
  4. Tighten the locknut and hook the return spring.
  5. Lower the truck.
1976–86 Vehicles

No adjustment is possible on 1976 and later trucks. Instead, the stroke can be checked by raising the truck and moving the release rod. If the stroke measures less than 5mm (0.197 in.), the clutch pedal should be replaced.
