  1. Remove the cylinder.
  2. Clean the outside thoroughly.
  3. Remove the dust cover and release rod.
  4. Remove the piston from the cylinder.
  5. Disassemble the bleeder valve.
  6. Discard any worn, damaged or distorted parts.
  7. Clean all parts in clean brake fluid.
  8. The cylinder bore may be honed to remove slight surface damage.
  9. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Coat all parts in clean brake fluid prior to assembly.
1986 Vehicles

  1. Remove the cylinder.
  2. Clean the outside thoroughly.
  3. Remove the dust cover and release rod.
  4. Remove the piston from the cylinder.
  5. Remove the return spring.
  6. Remove the bleeder screw and the small steel check ball underneath it.
  7. Discard any worn, damaged or distorted parts.
  8. Clean all parts in clean brake fluid.
  9. The cylinder bore may be honed to remove slight surface damage.
  10. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Coat all parts in clean brake fluid prior to assembly.
