On 1972–84 trucks, the front suspension consists of a wishbone-type, upper and lower control arm assembly with coil spring. Suspension travel is dampened by double acting shock absorbers.
1986 pick-ups use a torsion bar type front suspension, with upper and lower control arms. The lower control arm is further located by tension rods extending to the frame forward of the axle. Conventional, double-acting shock absorbers are employed to dampen motion. A stabilizer bar is standard equipment.
