Body Lubrication and Maintenance

The hood latch, auxiliary catch, door, hatchback and liftgate hinges should be lubricated with multi-purpose grease and the door and window weatherstripping should be lubricated with silicone lubricant at least once a year. The body water drain holes located on the underside of each rocker panel, quarter panel and door should also be cleaned at this time.

To preserve the appearance of your car, it should be washed periodically with a mild detergent and water solution. Only wash the vehicle when the metal feels cool and the vehicle is in the shade. Rinse the entire vehicle with cold water, then wash and rinse one panel at a time, beginning with the roof and upper areas. After washing is complete, rinse the vehicle one final time and dry with a soft cloth or chamois.

Periodic waxing will remove harmful deposits from the vehicles surface and protect the finish. If the finish has dulled due to age or neglect, polishing may be necessary to restore the original gloss.

There are many specialized products available at your local auto parts store to care for the appearance of painted metal surfaces, plastic, chrome, wheels and tires as well as the interior upholstery and carpeting. Be sure to follow the manufacturers instructions before using them.
