LEVEL CHECK

All Models Except 1993–98 626 and MX-6 Models

All models are equipped with a power steering fluid reservoir. The reservoir is translucent with FULL ( F) and LOW ( L) fluid level markings. The fluid should be kept filled to the FULL mark at all times.

1993–98 626 and MX-6 Models
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake.
  2. Turn the engine OFF and allow it to cool.

    Fig. 2: Read the fluid level on the dipstick. It should read at or just below the HIGH mark, if not . . .

    Fig. 3: . . . add enough of the proper grade of fluid until a HIGH reading is achieved

  3. Remove the combination filler cap and dipstick.
  4. Wipe the dipstick clean and reinstall.
  5. Remove the combination filler cap and dipstick and inspect the fluid level.
  6. The fluid level should be between the H and L marks on the dipstick. Add fluid as necessary.
