- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the distributor lead wire from the coil.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the coil.
- Remove the coil attaching bolts and remove the coil.
- Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the high tension lead from the coil by first twisting, then pulling
it from the coil terminal.
- Disconnect the distributor wiring harness from the coil. Tag the wires so
they can be reinstalled in their original positions.
- Remove the 2 mounting nuts and remove the coil and bracket assembly.
- Loosen the clamp screw at the coil bracket and remove the coil.
- Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the high tension lead from the coil by first twisting, then pulling
it from the coil terminal.
- Disconnect the igniter wiring harness and remove the 2 nuts.
- Lift the coil and igniter assembly and disconnect the coil and noise suppressor
wiring harness. Tag the wires so they can be reinstalled in their original
positions.
- Slide the protective cover back and disconnect the coil wiring harness.
Tag the wires so they can be reinstalled in their original positions.
- Remove the noise suppressor. Remove the 2 screws and the ignitor module.
- Remove the ignitor module mounting bracket and the coil.
- Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
The ignition coil is integrated within the distributor assembly and cannot
be replaced. If the coil malfunctions, the distributor must be replaced.
