Codes stored within the ECM memory must be erased when repairs are completed. Also, erasing codes during diagnosis can separate hard faults from intermittents. To erase stored codes:
NOTE: Not all Mazdas covered by this book require that the brake pedal be depressed to reset a code, however, as a precaution, we've added it as a necessary step for all models. If your model does not require it, this action will be ignored by the ECU.
