DISARMING THE SYSTEM

1. If equipped, deactivate the audio anti-theft system.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

   Fig. 1: To disable the air bag system, first disconnect the negative battery cable, then loosen the hood latch pull knob retaining nut . . .

   Fig. 2: . . . and disengage the knob from the lower driver's side undercover

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for more than one minute to allow the backup power supply to deplete its stored power.

   Fig. 3: Remove the lower driver's side undercover retaining screws . . .

   Fig. 4: . . . then pull the cover down and, if equipped, detach the A/C vent hose from it

   Fig. 5: Locate and disconnect the orange and blue air bag clockspring electrical harness plugs

4. Remove the driver side undercover and lower dash panel. Disconnect the orange and blue clock spring connectors for the drivers side air bag.
5. Remove the glove compartment and disconnect the orange and blue passenger side air bag module connectors.
