Instrument Cluster

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

MX-3, 323 and Protege
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Section 8.

  3. Remove the 2 column cover screws and remove the cover.
  4. Remove the meter hood assembly and remove the instrument cluster screws.
  5. Carefully pull the cluster module outward and disconnect the electrical connectors and the speedometer cable connector from the instrument cluster.
  6. Remove the instrument cluster.
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Check all gauges for proper operation.
626, MX6 and Millenia
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column shrouds and instrument cluster cover.
  3. If necessary, lower the steering column and/or remove the steering wheel.

    Fig. 4: . . . then carefully pull the top edge down and remove the hood

  4. Remove the meter hood assembly. On Millenia models, this will require removing the panel light control switch (to the left of the steering column) and a hole cover (to the right of the column) to access the two meter hood retaining screws.

  5. Remove the instrument cluster retaining screws.
  6. Carefully pull the cluster module outward and disconnect the electrical connectors and, if equipped, the speedometer cable connector from the instrument cluster.
  7. Remove the instrument cluster.
  8. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Check all gauges for proper operation.
