Proportioning Valve

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the brake fluid from the brake system.
  2. Label and disconnect the brake lines at the proportioning valve.
  3. Remove the proportioning valve mounting bolt and the valve from the engine compartment.

NOTE: Do not disassemble the proportioning valve because its performance depends on the set load of the spring inside the valve. If defective, replace the proportioning valve.

  4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the proportioning valve mounting bolt to 14–17 ft. lbs. (19–23 Nm). Bleed the brake system once the valve is installed.
