Axle Housing Assembly

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1997–98 MPV

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Support the vehicle at the frame and support the axle with a jack.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Rear wheels
   • Height sensor link
   • Stabilizer bar
   • Shock absorbers
   • Coil springs
   • Brake hose
   • Wheel speed sensors
   • Lateral rod
   • Upper link bolts
   • Lower link bolts
   • Axle housing

   To install:

4. Install or connect the following:
   • Axle housing. Tighten the link bolts to 102–126 ft. lbs. (138–171 Nm).
   • Lateral rod. Tighten the nut to 108–126 ft. lbs. (147–171 Nm).
   • Wheel speed sensors
   • Brake hose
   • Coil springs
   • Shock absorbers
   • Stabilizer bar. Tighten the bracket bolts to 26–37 ft. lbs. (35–50 Nm) and the links to 14–18 ft. lbs. (19–25 Nm).
   • Height sensor link
   • Rear wheels
