CONTROL ARM BUSHING REPLACEMENT

1997–98 MPV
2 WHEEL DRIVE

The lower control arm bushing is serviced with the lower control arm as an assembly.

4 WHEEL DRIVE
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the control arm bushings with a hydraulic press.

    To install:

  4. Lubricate the control arm bushings with liquid soap.
  5. If replacing the rear bushing, align the direction marks as shown.

  6. Press the bushings into the control arm until the bushing flange contacts the housing edge of the control arm.
  7. Install the control arm to the vehicle.
  8. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
2000–01 MPV
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
  3. Mark the control arm to indicate the alignment of the rear bushing as shown.
  4. Remove the control arm bushings with a hydraulic press.

    To install:

  5. Lubricate the control arm bushings with liquid soap.
  6. If replacing the rear bushing, align the direction marks as shown.

  7. Press the bushings into the control arm until the bushing flange contacts the housing edge of the control arm.
  8. Install the control arm to the vehicle.
  9. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
