Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning
of this section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable
Engine under cover
Outer tie rod ends
Power steering hoses and pipes
Intermediate shaft and steering column
Front driveshaft
Front differential housing bolts
Steering gear
To install:
Install or connect the following:
Steering gear. Tighten the bolts to 55–68 ft. lbs. (74–93
Nm).
Front differential housing bolts. Tighten the bolts to 49–72 ft.
lbs. (67–97 Nm).
Front driveshaft. Tighten the flange bolts to 37–43 ft. lbs. (50–58
Nm).
Intermediate shaft and steering column. Tighten the pinch bolt to 14–19
ft. lbs. (18–26 Nm) and the steering column fasteners to 12–16
ft. lbs. (16–22 Nm).
Power steering hoses and pipes
Outer tie rod ends. Tighten the nuts to 44–57 ft. lbs. (59–78
Nm).
Engine under cover
Negative battery cable
Fill the power steering reservoir.
Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
