Strut

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Front

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Remove the wheel
3. Support the lower control arm with a jack.
4. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Brake hose and/or ABS sensor harness to the strut Bolts or clips
   • Actuator from the top of the strut, if equipped with Automatic Adjusting Suspension (AAS)
5. Paint alignment marks on the upper strut mounting block and strut tower, and on the lower strut mount-to-steering knuckle so the strut can be reinstalled in the same position.
6. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Upper strut mounting nuts
   • Strut-to-knuckle bolts
   • Strut assembly

   To install:

7. Install or connect the following:
   • Strut into the strut tower, aligning the paint marks made during removal
   • Upper mounting nuts and tighten to specifications
   • Strut-to-knuckle bolts and tighten to specifications
   • Actuator and engage the electrical connector, if equipped with AAS
   • Brake hose and/or ABS sensor harness clips or bolts
   • Wheel
8. Check and/or adjust the front end alignment.

Rear

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Side trim panels from the inside of the trunk or the rear seat and trim, as required
   • Wiring and cap, if equipped with Automatic Adjusting Suspension (AAS) system
   • Top strut nuts

   NOTE: The suspension will drop when the weight lifts off the wheels.

   • Rear wheel(s)
   • Brake line or wiring retainers, as required
   • Bottom strut mount bolt(s)
   • Strut assembly

   To install:

3. Install or connect the following:
   • Strut assembly
   • Bottom strut mount bolt(s)
   • Brake line or wiring retainers, as required
   • Rear wheel(s)
   • Top strut nuts
   • Wiring and cap, if equipped with AAS system
   • Side trim panels to the inside of the trunk or the rear seat and trim, as required
