Orifice Tube

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Access and disconnect the condenser-to-evaporator tube.
3. If you have a fixed orifice tube, do the following:
   • Step 1: Engage the fixed orifice tube remover/replacer (special tool #412-034) to the A/C evaporator core orifice.
   • Step 2: Hold the tool T-handle stationary and rotate the tool body to remove the A/C evaporator core orifice.
4. If you have a broken orifice tube, do the following:
   • Step 1: Screw the end of the broken orifice tube extractor (special tool #412-035) into the broken A/C evaporator core orifice.
   • Step 2: Hold the tool T-handle stationary and rotate the tool body to remove the broken A/C evaporator core orifice.

To Install:

CAUTION
Use refrigerant oil (Motorcraft YN-12c), or an equivalent, to lubricate the O-ring seals.

1. Lubricate and install the O-ring seals on the A/C evaporator core orifice.
2. Place the A/C evaporator core orifice into the fixed orifice tube remover/replacer (special tool #412-034).
3. Insert the A/C evaporator core orifice into the condenser to evaporator tube until seated.
4. Remove the fixed orifice tube remover/replacer (special tool #412-034).
5. Install the condenser to evaporator tube.
