Lash Adjusters

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Remove the valve cover.
2. Rotate the camshaft so that the valve lash adjuster being removed is on the camshaft lobe base circle.
3. Use the valve spring compressor tool (303-523) to compress and hold the valve and valve spring.
4. Remove the roller finger follower.
5. Remove the hydraulic lash adjuster.

To Install:

1. Make sure to lubricate the points of the roller finger follower with grease that meets the manufacturer’s specifications.
2. Install the lash adjuster in the bore.
3. Use the valve spring compressor tool (303-523) to compress and hold the valve spring.
4. Install the roller finger follower over the hydraulic lash adjuster and the valve stem.
5. Release the tension on the valve spring then install the valve cover.
