To Remove:
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the timing belt.
- Disconnect the connector for the camshaft position sensor.
- Remove the oil pump sprocket.
- Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
- Remove the oil pump and throw away the gasket.
- Clean all of the oil pump and cylinder block gasket surfaces.
To Install:
NOTE: Examine the oil pump and O-rings.
- Install new O-rings as necessary.
- Make sure to prime the oil pump with 8 oz (236 ml) of the correct type of motor oil through the inlet port at the rear of the pump.
- Install the oil pump with a new gasket. Torque to 89-123 in-lb (10-14 Nm).
- Install the camshaft position sensor and the timing belt.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Start the engine and check for leaks. Repair if necessary.
