Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
The EVAP system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. While it is not present in large amounts, it is still very dangerous and could cause an explosion or fire. Disconnect the negative battery cable to reduce the chances of electrical sparks, which could cause an explosion or fire. If you do not follow these instructions, personal injury or vehicle damage may result.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the vacuum line.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Disconnect both fuel vapor tubes: the EVAP canister purge outlet tube and the EVAP return tube.
  5. Remove the nuts and valve.

To Install:

  1. Install the nuts and valve. Tighten to 80 in-lb (9 Nm).
  2. Connect both fuel vapor tubes: the EVAP return tube and the EVAP canister purge outlet tube.
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Connect the vacuum line.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Perform the EVAP System Leak Test. (Refer to EVAP System Leak Test procedure.)
  7. Perform the EVAP Repair Verification Drive Cycle. (Refer to EVAP Repair Verification Drive Cycle procedure.)
