Fuel Injection Supply Manifold

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
Do not smoke or have lit tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable substances are always present during such procedures and may accidentally be ignited, causing possible personal injury or vehicle damage.

WARNING
Any fuel in the fuel system is still under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, which can result in personal injury or a fire hazard.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel pressure then remove the upper Intake Manifold.
  3. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.
  4. Use a Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (3/8 inch) (#310-D004) or (1/2 inch) (# 310-D005).

To Install:

CAUTION
Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistant material. Do not use ordinary O-ring seals because they can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not reuse the O-ring seals, install new ones.

NOTE: Lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil before installing.

  1. Install new O-ring seals.
  2. Install the fuel injection supply manifold and bolts. Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
  3. Install the connectors onto the fuel injector.
  4. Install the upper Intake Manifold.
  5. Install the cap on the fuel pressure relief valve.
  6. Pressurize the system and check for leaks.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
