Throttle Body

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
  3. Remove the accelerator cable and the speed control cable, if present.
  4. Remove the bolts on the accelerator cable bracket, then remove the bracket.

  5. Remove the engine air cleaner intake tube and duct.
  6. Disconnect the connections from the throttle position (TP) sensor and the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve.
  7. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube.
  8. Remove the throttle body by first removing the 4 bolts, the throttle body, then the gasket.
  9. Disconnect the evaporative emission return tube.

To Install:

  1. Connect the evaporative emission return tube.
  2. Install the throttle body. Tighten to 15-22 ft-lb (20-30 Nm).
  3. Install the crankcase ventilation tube.
  4. Connect the connections for the throttle position (TP) sensor and the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve.
  5. Install the engine air cleaner intake tube and duct.
  6. Install the accelerator cable bracket. Tighten the bolts to 16-20 ft-lb (21-28 Nm).

  7. Install the accelerator cable and the speed control cable, if present.
  8. Install the accelerator control splash shield. Tighten to 62-79 in-lb (7-9 Nm).
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
