Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold, rocker arms, and push rods.
4. Remove the tappet guide plate retainer and valve tappet guide plates.
5. Remove the valve tappets.

To Install:

NOTE: Make sure to lubricate the valve tappets and valve tappet bores with the correct motor oil before installing.

1. Install the valve tappets and valve tappet guide plates.
2. Install the tappet guide plate retainer. Torque to 89-123 in-lb (10-14 Nm).
3. Install the push rods and rocker arms. Torque to 19-28 ft-lb (26-38 Nm).
4. Install the lower intake manifold.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
