Fuel Pump

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Remove the fuel tank.
2. Clean area around the fuel pump mounting flange.
3. Using the fuel tank lockring wrench (310-075), remove the fuel tank pump assembly locking retainer ring.

   CAUTION
   Remove the fuel pump assembly and handle it carefully to avoid damage to the float arm and filter.

4. Remove the fuel pump assembly.
5. Remove and throw away the fuel pump mounting gasket.

To Install:

1. Clean the fuel pump mounting flange and the fuel tank mounting surface.
2. Install a new fuel pump mounting gasket.
3. Install the fuel pump and sender assembly with the float toward the rear of the tank. Align the arrows molded into the tank and flange.
4. Install the locking ring while compressing the pump assembly into the tank.
5. Using the fuel tank lockring wrench (310-075), tighten the fuel pump assembly locking ring to 66 ft-lb (90 Nm).
6. Install the fuel tank.
