Brake Caliper

Removal & Installation

Front

To Remove:

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

    WARNING

    CAUTION
    Brake fluid will harm plastic and painted surfaces. If brake fluid touches a plastic or painted surface, wash it immediately with water.

  3. Disconnect the front brake hose and throw away the copper washers.

  4. Plug the front brake hose.
  5. Remove the disc brake caliper.
  6. Examine the disc brake caliper and check for leaks.

To Install:

  1. Install the disc brake caliper and bolts. Torque to 24 ft-lb (32 Nm).
  2. Unplug the front brake hose.
  3. Install the front brake hose with new copper washers. Torque fastener to 25 ft-lb (34 Nm).

  4. Bleed the disc brake caliper then install the tire and wheel assembly.
  5. Examine the operation of the brake system.
