Removal & Installation

Front 2WD

To Remove:

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the front anti-lock brake sensor wire from the vehicle frame.
  3. Remove the front anti-lock brake sensor and bolt.

NOTE: Make sure to plug the opening of the sensor mount and clean the mounting surface then apply the correct type of grease.

To Install:

NOTE: Make sure to unplug the opening of the sensor mount.

  1. Install the front anti-lock brake sensor and bolt. Torque to 9 ft-lb (12 Nm).
  2. Connect the front anti-lock brake sensor wire to the vehicle frame.
  3. Safely lower the vehicle.
Front 4WD

To Remove:

  1. Remove the rotor shield.
  2. Disconnect the front anti-lock brake sensor electrical connector.
  3. Unclip the wire from the vehicle frame.
  4. Remove the bolt.

    NOTE: Make sure to plug the opening of the sensor mount and clean the mounting surface then apply the correct type of grease.

  5. Remove the anti-lock brake sensor.

To Install:

  1. Install the anti-lock brake sensor. Torque to 62-80 in-lb (7-9 Nm).

    NOTE: Make sure to unplug the opening of the sensor mount.

  2. Install the bolt. Torque to 62-80 in-lb (7-9 Nm).
  3. Clip the wire to the vehicle frame.
  4. Connect the electrical connector.
  5. Install the rotor shield.
Rear

To Remove:

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle.

    NOTE: Clean off any dirt or foreign matter which may have collected on the rear anti-lock brake sensor before removing it.

  2. Remove the rear anti-lock brake system (ABS) sensor by disconnecting the electrical connector, removing the bolt, then removing the sensor.

NOTE: Make sure to clean the mounting surface thoroughly.

NOTE: Examine the anti-lock brake sensor O-ring for signs of damage then lightly lubricate it with the correct axle lubricant.

To Install:

NOTE: Examine the anti-lock brake sensor O-ring for signs of damage then lightly lubricate it with the correct axle lubricant.

NOTE: Make sure to clean the mounting surface thoroughly.

  1. Install the rear anti-lock brake system (ABS) sensor and bolt, then connect the electrical connector. Torque the bolt to 20 ft-lb (27 Nm).
  2. Safely lower the vehicle.
