Heater Hoses

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
Never remove the radiator cap from a hot engine. Allow the engine to completely cool before removing the radiator cap.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2. Drain the radiator.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to break the fittings on the heater core when removing the hoses.

  4. Remove the heater hose from between the heater core and the water diverter valve.
  5. Remove the heater hose from between the water diverter valve and the water pump.
  6. Remove the heater hose from between the water diverter valve and the water outlet.

To Install:

NOTE: Be sure to lubricate hoses and fittings with Rubber Suspension Insulator Lube (#E25Y-19553-A) or a suitable equivalent.

  1. Install the heater hose between the water diverter valve and the water outlet.
  2. Install the heater hose from between the water diverter valve and the water pump.
  3. Install the heater hose from between the heater core and the water diverter valve.
  4. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.

    CAUTION
    Always fill the cooling system with the same type of coolant that was drained from the system. Do not mix coolant types.

  5. Properly fill the radiator.
