Engine Front Cover

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the oil pan.
  4. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  5. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  6. Disconnect the heater water hose from the water pump.
  7. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
  9. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.
  10. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
  11. Remove the A/C bracket-to-water pump brace.
  12. Remove the wire harness retainer.
  13. Remove the engine front cover.
  14. Remove the bolts and nuts.
  15. Remove the front cover and the gasket.

To Install:

  1. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
  2. Install the engine front cover gasket.

    NOTE: To line up the engine front cover and cylinder block at the oil pan mating surface, use a straightedge.

  3. Install the engine front cover. Torque the fasteners to 13-15 ft-lb (17-21 Nm).
  4. Install the wire harness retainer. Torque to 11 ft-lb (15 Nm).
  5. Install the A/C bracket-to-water pump brace. Torque to 35 ft-lb (47 Nm).
  6. Install the generator mounting bracket. Torque to 35 ft-lb (47 Nm).
  7. Install the drive belt tensioner.
  8. Connect the generator electrical connectors.
  9. Connect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  10. Connect the heater water hose to the water pump.
  11. Connect the lower radiator hose.
  12. Install the crankshaft pulley.
  13. Install the oil pan.
  14. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
  15. Connect the battery ground cable.
