Exhaust Manifold

Removal & Installation

Left Side

To Remove:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Put the vehicle in neutral and place it on a hoist.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
  5. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube.
  6. Remove the retainers and the left exhaust manifold.

To Install:

  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets and retaining nuts. Torque to 16 ft-lb (22 Nm).
  3. Connect the EGR tube. Torque fastener to 25 ft-lb (34 Nm).
  4. Install the exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts. Torque to 30 ft-lb (40 Nm).
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.
Right Side

To Remove:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold nuts.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Remove the right-hand exhaust manifold.

To Install:

  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets and retaining nuts. Torque to 16 ft-lb (22 Nm).
