Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the valve covers.

   CAUTION
   The rocker arm shaft can be bent during removal if it is not gradually loosened.

4. Mark parts and keep them in order so they can be installed in their original positions.
5. Remove the rocker arm shaft assembly.

To Install:

CAUTION
The rocker arm shaft can be bent during installation if it is not gradually tightened.

1. Install the rocker arm shaft assembly. Tighten it in two steps.
   • Step 1: Torque to 24 ft-lb (32 Nm).
   • Step 2: Tighten an extra 90 degrees.
2. Install the valve covers and connect the negative battery cable.
