Throttle Body

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

WARNING
Do not smoke or have lit tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable substances are always present during such procedures and may accidentally be ignited, causing possible personal injury or vehicle damage.

CAUTION
Do not clean the throttle body bore and plate area. These have a special coating and cleaning these may cause damage to the throttle body.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner tube.
3. Remove the accelerator cable snow shield.
4. If present, disconnect the accelerator and the speed control actuator cables.
5. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the canister purge line.
7. Remove the throttle body.

8. Inspect and install a new throttle body gasket if necessary.

To Install:

1. Install throttle body and new gasket. Torque to 89 in-lb (10 Nm).
2. Install the throttle body.

3. Connect the canister purge line.
4. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
5. If present, connect the accelerator and the speed control actuator cables.
6. Install the accelerator cable snow shield.
7. Install the air cleaner tube.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
