Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU)

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

CAUTION
Brake fluid will harm plastic and painted surfaces. If brake fluid touches a plastic or painted surface, wash it with water immediately.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Lift up the release tab to disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit (HCU).
  4. Remove the HCU.
  5. If necessary, remove the anti-lock brake control module.

To Install:

NOTE: Remove the ABS module if a new HCU will be installed.

CAUTION
Once the HCU is installed, bleed the hydraulic brake system.

  1. If necessary, install the anti-lock brake control module.
  2. Install the HCU.
  3. Connect the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit (HCU).
  4. Connect the electrical connector.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
