Parking Brake Actuator (Control)

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

NOTE: Be sure the parking brake control is completely released.

  1. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system by pulling down on the parking brake intermediate cable, then inserting a 5/32 in (4 mm) drill bit in the parking brake control.
  2. Remove the left-hand front fender apron.

    NOTE: Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit at the end of the connector with the locating hole.

  3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake intermediate cable.
  4. Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit from the bracket.
  5. Remove the parking brake release mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the parking brake control and front parking brake cable and conduit.

To Install:

  1. Install the parking brake control and front parking brake cable and conduit. Torque parking brake control bolts to 13-17 ft-lb (17-23 Nm).
  2. Install the parking brake release mounting bolts. Torque to 19-25 in-lb (2.1-2.9 Nm).
  3. Install the front parking brake cable and conduit to the bracket.
  4. Connect the front parking brake cable and conduit to the parking brake intermediate cable.
  5. Install the left-hand fender apron.
  6. Slightly depress the parking brake and remove the drill bit.
  7. Make sure the parking brake is operating correctly.
