The lower ball joint is an integral part of the lower control and cannot be
replaced separately. If the lower ball joint is defective, the entire lower
control arm must be replaced. Refer to the lower control arm procedure.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning
of this section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
- Wheel
- Ball joint stud pinch bolt and nut from the steering knuckle
- Ball joint by prying it from the knuckle
- Ball joint to lower control arm bolt and nut
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
- Ball joint to lower control arm. Torque the bolt to 86 ft. lbs. (117
Nm)
- Ball joint to the knuckle
- Ball joint to the steering knuckle. Torque the bolt to 43 ft. lbs. (59
Nm)
- Wheel
- Check and/or adjust the front wheel alignment.
