Torsion Bar

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Negative battery cable
   • Torsion bar cover plate and measure the length of the torsion bar adjustment bolt
   • Relieve torsion bar tension
   • Torsion bar adjustment bolt
   • Torsion bar and insulator

   To install:

3. Install or connect the following:
   • Torsion bar in the front suspension lower arm
   • Torsion bar adjuster and position the insulator
4. Preload the torsion bar and install a NEW adjuster bolt. Turn the bolt until it reaches the measurement made during the removal procedure.
5. Torsion bar cover plate. Torque the bolts to 46 ft. lbs. (63 Nm).
6. Negative battery cable
