Rear Main Seal

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Remove the flywheel or flexplate.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal.

To Install:

1. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal on the crankshaft rear main oil seal installer.
2. Install the crankshaft rear main oil seal installer and the crankshaft rear oil seal on the crankshaft. Torque the bolts in the sequence shown below to 89 in-lb (10 Nm).

3. Remove the crankshaft rear main oil seal installer.
4. Install the oil pan.
5. Install the flywheel or flexplate.
