Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the engine plug bolt.

  1. Install the crankshaft timing peg (303-507) and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.

  1. Remove and throw away the CKP sensor.
  2. Install an M6 bolt.

To Install:

NOTE: When a crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is removed, it is necessary to install a new one with the alignment tool provided with the new part. This alignment tool comes with a new sensor and cannot be purchased separately.

  1. Install a new CKP sensor, but do not tighten the bolts yet.
  2. Adjust the CKP sensor with the alignment tool and tighten the bolts.
  3. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the M6 bolt.
  5. Remove the M6 bolt

  6. Remove the crankshaft timing peg.

  8. Install the engine plug bolt.

  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
