Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)

Removal & Installation

Left Side Sensor

To Remove:

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

NOTE: If the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is difficult to remove, lubricate it with lock lubricant to make removal easier.

  1. Use the exhaust gas oxygen sensor socket (303-476) to remove the HO2S.
  2. Apply a light coating of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S.

To Install:

  1. Apply a light coating of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S.
  2. Install the HO2S using the exhaust gas oxygen sensor socket (303-476).
  3. Lower the vehicle.
Right Side Sensor

To Remove:

  1. Remove the right, front wheel and tire assembly.
  2. Move the right, front fender splash shield to the side.

NOTE: If the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is difficult to remove, lubricate it with lock lubricant to make removal easier.

  1. Use the exhaust gas oxygen sensor socket (303-476) to remove the HO2S.
  2. Apply a light coating of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S.

To Install:

  1. Apply a light coating of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S.
  2. Install the HO2S using the exhaust gas oxygen sensor socket (303-476).
  3. Move the right, front fender splash shield back into its original position.
  4. Install the right, front wheel and tire assembly.
