To Remove:
NOTE: The axle housing vent might be plugged with foreign material if the wheel bearing oil seal is leaking.
NOTE: If it only necessary to install a new seal, be careful not to damage the seal bore.
- Remove the axle shaft.
- Use an appropriate seal remover to remove the axle shaft oil seal. Throw away the seal.
- Examine the rear wheel bearing and axle shaft to look for signs of damage or wear.
- If needed, use the axle bearing remover (205-219) and the slide hammer (100-001) to remove the rear wheel bearing.
To Install:
- Lubricate the new rear wheel bearing.
- Use the axle shaft bearing installer (205-124) and the adapter handle for the 303-224 (205-153) to install the rear wheel bearing.
- Use grease to lubricate the lip of the new wheel bearing oil seal.
- Use the rear axle oil seal installer (205-390) adapter handle for the 303-224 (205-153) to install the wheel bearing oil seal.
- Install the axle shaft.
