ABS Control Module

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

  1. Remove the hydraulic control unit (HCU).

    NOTE: You must install a new ABS module because the ABD module cannot be repaired.

  2. Remove the bolts.

    CAUTION
    The motor terminals and valve stems will be exposed once you separate the ABS module from the HCU. Make sure to protect the terminals and valve stems from any damage during this procedure.

  3. Remove the ABS module from the HCU.

    CAUTION
    When the ABS module is installed, a new seal kit must be used. The old seals must be thrown away because they may cause a leak between the ABS module and the HCU.

    NOTE: O-ring seals must be installed on the valve flange. Be sure there are no twists to the O-ring seals when installing them.

  4. Throw away the O-ring seals after removing them and install new seals. Be sure to clean out the grooves of the ABS module before installing new seals.
  5. Throw away the ABS module sealing material before installing a new seal.

To Install:

CAUTION
Make sure all of the components are clean and free of foreign material, oil, fluid, and dust.

  1. Be sure to clean out the grooves of the ABS module before installing new seals. Install new O-ring seals.

    NOTE: O-ring seals must be installed on the valve flange. Be sure there are no twists to the O-ring seals when installing them.

    CAUTION
    When the ABS module is installed, a new seal kit must be used. The old seals must be thrown away because they may cause a leak between the ABS module and the HCU.

  2. Install the ABS module into the HCU.
  3. Install the bolts.

    NOTE: You must install a new ABS module because the ABD module cannot be repaired.

  4. Install the hydraulic control unit (HCU).
