Accumulator

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

CAUTION
Only use refrigerant compressor oil (mineral oil) (F73Z-19577-AA/Motorcraft YN-9-A) to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring and do not add to the R-134a refrigerant system as an A/C compressor lubricant. Only PAG refrigerant compressor oil (F7AZ-19589-DA/Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent meeting the manufacturer’s specification should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant.

  1. Recover the refrigerant.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the A/C cycling switch.

    CAUTION
To prevent damage to the tubes, use a back-up wrench.

  3. Disconnect the suction accumulator refrigerant lines and throw away the O-ring seals.
  4. Remove the suction accumulator bracket screws and the suction accumulator.

To Install:

NOTE: Make sure to lubricate the refrigerant system with clean PAG oil.

NOTE: If you are installing a new suction accumulator, transfer the A/C cycling switch to the new suction accumulator.

  1. Install the suction accumulator and bracket screws.

    CAUTION
To prevent damage to the tubes, use a back-up wrench.

  2. Connect the suction accumulator refrigerant lines with new O-ring seals that have been lubricated with clean mineral oil.
  3. Connect the electrical connector for the A/C cycling switch.
  4. Fill the system with refrigerant.
