Removal & Installation

WARNING
When repairing starter motor or performing any maintenance in the area of the starter motor, note the heavy gauge input lead connected to the starter solenoid is hot at all times. Make sure a new protective cap is installed over the terminal after repair.

To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the bolts and lower the starter motor.
  4. Remove the cap.
  5. Remove the nuts and the starter motor.

To Install

  1. Install the starter motor and nuts. Install the starter bolts finger tight, then tighten upper bolt first and lower bolt second.
  2. Install the cap.
  3. Install the starter motor and the bolts.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Reconnect the battery ground cable.
