Water Pump

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the cooling system.
4. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
6. Remove the fan blade and fan shroud.
7. Remove the water pump pulley.
8. Disconnect the heater hose and the wiring harness anchor.
9. Detach the fuel tube bracket and wiring harness bracket.
10. Remove the stud bolts from the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
11. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
12. Remove the bolts and move the bracket and compressor aside.
13. Remove the water pump.
14. Clean the sealing surfaces.

To Install:

1. Clean the mating surfaces where the water pump attaches to the engine.
2. Install the water pump.
   • Torque to 89 in-lb (10 Nm).
3. Install the A/C compressor and mounting bracket.
   • Torque to 38 ft-lb (51 Nm).
4. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket stud bolts.
   • Torque to 35 ft-lb (48 Nm).
5. Install the wiring harness bracket and the fuel tube bracket.
   • Torque to 89 in-lb (10 Nm).
6. Install the water pump pulley.
   • Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 Nm).
7. Install the accessory drive belt.
8. Connect the heater hose and the wiring harness anchor.
9. Connect the lower radiator hose.
10. Install the fan blade and fan shroud.
11. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
13. Fill the cooling system.
14. Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.
