To Remove:
WARNING
Do not smoke or have lit tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable substances are always present during such procedures and may accidentally be ignited, causing possible personal injury or vehicle damage.
WARNING
Any fuel in the fuel system is still under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, which can result in personal injury or a fire hazard.
- Put vehicle in NEUTRAL and place it on a hoist.
- Release the fuel system pressure.
- Drain the fuel tank.
- Loosen the fill pipe hose clamps and disconnect the fill pipe hoses from the upper tubes.
- Remove the 4 nuts and the skid plate, if present.
- Support the fuel tank.
- Remove the bolts and pivot the fuel tank support straps away from the fuel tank.
- Partially lower the fuel tank for access then disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector.
- Disconnect the fuel supply line, return line, and fuel vapor push-connect fittings at the fuel pump.
- Disconnect the vapor line push-connect fitting at the rear of the fuel tank.
- Lower the fuel tank.
To Install:
- Connect the vapor line push-connect fitting at the rear of the fuel tank.
- Connect the fuel supply line, return line, and fuel vapor push-connect fittings at the fuel pump.
- Connect the fuel pump electrical connector.
- Pivot the fuel tank support straps toward the fuel tank and install the bolts.
- Torque to 35 ft-lb (47 Nm).
- If present, install the skid plate and nuts.
- Torque to 22 ft-lb (30 Nm).
- Connect the fill pipe hoses to the upper tubes and tighten the fill pipe hose clamps.
- Torque to 35 in. lbs. (4 Nm).
- Pressurize the system and check for leaks.
